Agro-Region elevators transitioned to renewable energy sources.

Boryspil and Myropil elevators of the Agro-Region Group of Companies have been fully transitioned to renewable energy sources.

As reported by the company’s operations director, Volodymyr Kravtsov, the third elevator — Zavorichy, acquired in 2023 and reconstructed with increased productivity, is also planned to be equipped with a solid fuel heat generator.

According to him, in addition to pellets from sunflower husks, which are used as the main fuel, heat generators can operate on various types of fuel.

Speaking about the main advantages of using heat generators, he notes the energy flexibility and, consequently, independence from monopolistic conditions in the gas market, as well as the renewability of energy sources in the context of global fossil fuel markets.

“All agro-companies that have experienced the gas price at 60 thousand UAH per 1,000 cubic meters will strive to eliminate such risk in the future. In a season when the price of the main energy carrier for elevators can increase by 20 times, the decision to use alternative sources is made very easily,” says Volodymyr Kravtsov.

According to him, the payback period of the conversion project directly depends on the price of gas and, accordingly, alternative fuel, and in some seasons, it was less than a year. This opens up significant prospects for the development of alternative energy sources, particularly for Ukraine’s agribusiness.
