In the Western cluster, Agro-Region uses various agrotechnological approaches

30. 09. 24

Each agricultural season is unique in terms of weather conditions, so it is essential to have several agrotechnological approaches in your working arsenal, as you never know which one will work best at any given time.

This is noted by Yurii Stepanchuk, the head of the Western cluster of the Agro-Region Group of Companies.

According to him, the annual rainfall in the Zhytomyr and Khmelnytskyi regions, where the company operates, is sufficient in terms of quantity, but the distribution of rainfall is highly irregular.

Given these conditions, the Western cluster places special emphasis on moisture-conserving technologies. However, according to Yurii Stepanchuk, there are no fixed solutions, and various approaches are used for soil cultivation, sowing, protection, and fertilization.

“This approach, along with favorable weather conditions in our region, allowed us to harvest soybeans this year with the best quality indicators. Specifically, the soy contains 41-43% protein in dry mass, while the minimum standard is 37%,” he adds.

In the Western cluster, the soybean harvest covers 2,800 hectares, which is double the area of last season. The dry, warm autumn weather is conducive to a fast-paced harvesting campaign.

Additionally, 1,500 hectares of winter rapeseed have been sown for the 2025 harvest. Although most of Ukraine is experiencing unfavorable conditions for this crop (a large area is not only unsown but already lost, as the emerged plants did not receive enough moisture), Agro-Region’s winter rapeseed is in good condition, with the crop developing according to the norms.

The winter wheat sowing campaign for the 2025 harvest is in its final stage, with 1,660 hectares allocated for this crop.
