Practical training on agricultural procurement held at Agro-Region as part of the Veterans’ reintegration project

06. 02. 25

The Agro-Region Group of Companies, as part of its support for the Go2AGRO veterans’ reintegration project, organized an offline meeting with participants of the educational program “Procurement in the Agricultural Sector.”

This was stated by Dmytro Tarasiuk, Procurement Director of Agro-Region, who is also one of the course instructors.

The practical session took place at the Kyiv cluster of Agro-Region and included a tour of the company’s production facilities, practical lectures on the seasonality of material procurement for agricultural production and tendering processes, as well as a Q&A session.

“Participants of the training program were shown concrete examples of the seasonality of different product groups, when it is most effective to buy specific goods, how to collect information, and how price changes are forecasted based on accumulated data. In addition, a scheduled tender for the procurement of sunflower and corn seeds was conducted specifically for this meeting. In real time, participants were able to see how a reverse auction works, how sellers compete for our contracts, and how each bid reduces our expenses in the form of discounts. We also discussed the stages of tender preparation and analyzed its results,” explained Dmytro Tarasiuk.

The “Procurement in the Agricultural Sector” educational program provides veterans seeking to transition to civilian life with an opportunity to build a career in procurement within the agricultural industry. The course consists of 30 video lessons, each lasting up to 20 minutes, depending on the topic. After completing each video lesson, participants must complete an online assignment. The lessons are divided into modules, and after completing each module, students participate in online meetings with instructors to review assignments and discuss questions.

Dmytro Tarasiuk prepared six video lessons for the course in two modules covering agricultural procurement and the role and professional profile of a procurement specialist. This offline meeting served as a useful and enjoyable practical conclusion to these course modules.

“Through our company’s example, we showed job seekers that modern agriculture has nothing in common with outdated perceptions of Soviet-era collective farms. Today, the industry is defined by modern offices, advanced technologies, and, most importantly, Western approaches to personnel management,” added Dmytro Tarasiuk.

Overall, the participants spent a great day in good company and enjoyed the positive feedback from the course attendees.
