In the Agro-Region Group of Companies, the preparation of seed material has begun. In particular, cleaning, calibration, processing, and packaging of soybean seeds into big bags are being carried out.
This was noted by seed agronomist Antonina Prylipko.
“Agro-Region covers 95% of its needs with its own soybean seeds. This year, 35 tons of first-generation seeds of three different varieties have also been purchased for further reproduction, cultivation of seeds for the coming years, which will later be used for commercial sowing,” she specifies.
At the same time, the seed agronomist adds that each batch of both own and purchased seeds (in addition to soybeans, this also includes sunflower and corn) undergoes testing to determine the thousand-seed weight, energy and germination capacity, calibration quality, and treatment. If low-quality batches are detected, the seeds are returned to the supplier, rejected, and not allowed for sowing.
“Based on the data from such studies, we derive the average indicators for these parameters and determine the recommended sowing rate for industrial sowing,” says Antonina Prylipko.
For the current agricultural production season, nearly 5,000 hectares in Agro-Region are allocated for soybeans.
