The Agro-Region Group has expanded its irrigated area to 580 hectares by installing another irrigation system covering 100 hectares in the Kyiv cluster earlier this year.<\/p>\n

This was noted by Oleksandr Morenets, the irrigation project manager.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cOur first irrigation system was installed in 2018 \u2014 140 hectares with Zimmatic equipment. In 2019, we added two more irrigation machines: 140 hectares with Zimmatic and 200 hectares with VALLEY. Currently, the irrigation equipment is from a Ukrainian manufacturer, specifically the Kharkiv-based plant ‘Variant Agro Build’,\u201d<\/em> he added.<\/p>\n

According to Oleksandr Morenets, the irrigated crops include seed production fields and partially corn.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve shifted from a zone of sufficient moisture to one of insufficient moisture, so irrigation is a key priority for the future,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n

He also noted that when comparing fields with the same soil structure \u2014 in Agro-Region\u2019s case, sandy loam \u2014 the yield increase for commercial corn under irrigation can reach an additional 5\u20136 tons per hectare (dry weight).<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
