Training: Working with Modern Equipment in Grain Quality Laboratories

13. 05. 25

The laboratory of the Agro-Region Group is equipped with one of the best oil content analyzers, calibrated using an NMR analyzer, which allows for results that closely match those obtained through arbitration methods.

This was noted by Anastasiia Tytarenko, Director of Grain Quality Control.

According to her, the enterprise also uses the Infratec Nova to determine moisture, protein, and oil content in soybeans and rapeseed.

“Modern equipment is designed for ease of use, fast result delivery, and minimal human interference. These factors simplify the testing process while maintaining the accuracy and reliability of the results,” she explains.

To improve operational efficiency, a three-day training was held in early May for Agro-Region staff on the specifics of working with modern equipment in grain quality laboratories, including a review of key grain quality indicators.

“Conducting regular trainings on determining grain and seed quality indicators is a crucial element of effective laboratory operation. It not only enhances staff professionalism but also ensures result accuracy, regulatory compliance, successful audits, and strengthens the company’s reputation as a reliable partner,” emphasizes Anastasiia Tytarenko.

She adds that the company’s laboratories operate in accordance with Ukrainian standards, and during the training, participants were also introduced to ISO and USDA methods used in the formation and shipment of export batches of grain and oilseed crops at ports.

Among other topics, participants also studied methods and equipment for rapid GMO detection during the intake and shipment of grain products.

“This type of testing is a mandatory part of the food safety system, specifically HACCP, and complies with the legislation of Ukraine as well as export contract requirements. For GMO detection, we use test strips. A result is considered negative if no GMO is detected or if the content remains within the legally permitted threshold (less than 0.9% for Ukraine and the EU, unless otherwise specified in the contract),” concludes Anastasiia Tytarenko.
